NHL Playoffs on Easter Sunday: Canucks at Blackhawks Game 6

This will be the only time I am ever able to attend two sporting events on Easter Sunday – the benefits of Nicole working on her dissertation all day. At least she had the heart to work on it at home so I could attend the Blackhawks playoff game.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
Tickets were not that easy to come by since fans thought the Blackhawks could actually come back from a 3-0 deficit versus the Canucks. I ended up paying $95 for an $85 face value ticket. The guy said he …

NHL Playoffs: Canucks at Blackhawks Game 4

I missed the first Chicago Blackhawks home playoff game on Sunday night when I was flying back to Chicago. So there was no way I was going to miss Game 4 (the Blackhawks second home game) especially with the Blackhawks down in the series 3-0.
Also, I don’t think there is anyway Game 6 will be played back at the United Center so this is the only Blackhawks playoff game I will attend this season. For the second night in a row, I planned to miss the Cubs home game for …

Pricey Face Value: Canucks at Blackhawks

At the Bears game on Sunday, my friend Mike Holzman invited me to tonight’s Chicago Blackhawks game. He said his Dad wanted face value for the tickets which I said fine. In the past (when Mike brought me for free) the tickets had a face value of $95 or so. He also said he had passes to the Ketel One Club which is an area I have never been to before in the United Center. I have been to the bar upstairs several times (when they still sell beer in …

It was one of the most exciting Blackhawks games I have attended this season. The Canucks scored two goals within the first five minutes of the game and it appeared Game 2 was heading in the same direction as Game 1. However, the Blackhawks reversed their fortunes and also scored a goal in the first period.
After a scoreless second period, Patrick Sharp scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game at two goals apiece with 13:11 left in the game. It appeared the game was heading into overtime until Kris …

As opposed to the doubleheader I attended on Friday, I had a lot of time in between the Cubs game and Blackhawks game on Saturday. Thus, I went home to relax before driving to the United Center.
Parking
I parked for free on Washington Blvd. between Ashland Blvd. and Paulina St. The walk is not too far from the United Center and will allow you to pass scalpers as you walk to the arena.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
After parking, I walked to the United Center box office directly. I saw a scalper I …

While I was on my flight to Dallas I decided my best option was to attend the Dallas Stars game at 1 pm and then drive to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl. My timing for the day would need to be nearly perfect. I figured the Stars game would last 2.5 hours, giving me enough time to drive to San Antonio.
My flight was scheduled to land at 11:45 am and Dallas Love Field is only a 10 minute drive (5 miles) to American Airlines Center. Thus, …
