NBA Playoffs: Bulls at Pacers Game 3

With the Bulls playing in “nearby” Indianapolis, I decided to make the drive for Game 3. I chose Game 3 over Game 4 since the Cubs are home Saturday afternoon and I would only drive down for one of the two “road” games.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
Thinking tickets would be cheap, I drove down without a ticket (as usual). However, to my surprise most scalpers were asking for $100 per ticket even though there was a lot of supply on the streets.
Finally I decided to check the box office since tickets …

NBA Playoffs: Pacers at Bulls Game 2

I flew back to Chicago Sunday night in order to be back in time for the Chicago Cubs second home stand of the season which started Monday night. However, both the NBA and NHL Playoff schedules came out while I was in San Francisco, so I missed the Chicago Bulls opening round playoff game on Saturday afternoon.
So even though I just got back from a 10-day trip to San Francisco and the Cubs were home at Wrigley Field, I was planning to attend Game 2 of the Pacers and Bulls …

Bay Area Doubleheader Day: Kings at Warriors

We had to drive to AT&T Park so we could drive across the Bay Bridge on our way to Oakland for the Golden State Warriors game. Since we had time before the 6 pm tip, we stopped for dinner at Everett & Jones BBQ in Jack London Square. This was the same restaurant we ate at on October 1, 2003 in between Giants and Athletics divisional series playoff games.

My Dad wanted good seats for the Warriors game so I had my work cut out for me. Most …

I had planned to attend the Chicago Bulls game on Friday night. However, Nicole was unable to get back from campus in time so I planned to attend tonight’s game. I would not have attended both games anyway. However, I had no idea Chicago was celebrating the 20th anniversary of their first championship tonight, so I was definitely happy with the switch.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
Of course, the magnitude of the evening made ticket prices much higher than I thought. The game was sold out so I ended up paying $80 …

Afternoon in Oklahoma City: Heat at Thunder

In a miraculous turn of events, I felt somewhat ok when I woke up Sunday morning for my 8 am flight to Oklahoma City. This was a day that could have turned into a disaster. I was flying solo with the Ultimate Sports Baby to Oklahoma City Sunday morning, attending the Thunder game at noon, then flying back to Chicago Sunday evening. Not many people would take their nine month old son on a trip like this but I had no choice but to continue at this point.
My only savior …

Seriously Sick in Dallas: Hawks at Mavericks

It was supposed to be a quick trip to Dallas and Oklahoma City. The schedule was perfect. Fly Saturday morning to Dallas, attend the Dallas Mavericks game Saturday night, fly to Oklahoma City Sunday morning, attend the Oklahoma City Thunder game Sunday afternoon and fly back to Chicago Sunday evening. Of course, that was my plan alone. Then Nicole somehow convinced me to take the Ultimate Sports Baby with me – “it’s a short trip just like you said”…”plus he flies free”. I fell for her argument.
We landed in Dallas …

With my mom in town to watch Dylan, I chose to drive to Milwaukee for the Lakers and Bucks game since it is easier to drive to Milwaukee after work than back to Chicago.
Parking in Milwaukee
Parking is free on city streets in Milwaukee for night games but the walk is pretty far and not necessarily worth while even though I continue to do it. This time I parked on the corner of Kilbourn Ave. and Broadway St.

One thing about Milwaukee is that it is much cheaper to …

I picked up my mom after the Northwestern football game – our babysitter for the evening. I planned to attend the Chicago Bulls game Saturday night before going out to dinner with Nicole. This game happened to be the 100th Chicago Bulls game I have attended.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
I had to pay for a $25 standing room only ticket from the box office since none of the scalpers would take $20 for a ticket and I was not going to pay more than $25. I knew I would be able …

The wife and I have a temporary agreement. Or maybe it is just a one day agreement. Since traffic is so bad driving from the Northwest suburbs to Wrigley Field on a Friday night, I can now drive to Milwaukee for sporting events at the Bradley Center on most Friday nights. We’ll see how often this actually occurs. For example, even tonight I felt lazy to drive all the way to Milwaukee for a pre-season Milwaukee Bucks game. After seeing how long it would take to drive home, I made …

Amazingly there was very little traffic leaving Chicago on a Friday afternoon and I arrived in downtown Milwaukee a few minutes before 6:00 pm – meaning I need to find parking, walk to the Bradley Center and buy a ticket quickly.
I parked for free on the same corner (Juneau Ave. and Jackson St.) I did on Sunday of the NCAA Tournament. The walk is far from the Bradley Center but saved me time searching for parking closer to the stadium.

As I approached the Bradley Center, there weren’t …
