Smirnoff Bar at United Center: Pacers at Bulls Game 5

As was the case last week, I planned to skip Tuesday night’s Cubs game in order to attend the Chicago Bulls playoff game versus the Indiana Pacers.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
On Sunday night, at the Blackhawks playoff game, I bought a SRO ticket for $40 from the box office. I figured it would be difficult to beat the $40 price point buying a regular seat, so having a ticket would save me time looking for tickets before the game.

Also, as it turns out my friend Kelly McMahon was attending the …

NBA Playoffs: Bulls at Pacers Game 3

With the Bulls playing in “nearby” Indianapolis, I decided to make the drive for Game 3. I chose Game 3 over Game 4 since the Cubs are home Saturday afternoon and I would only drive down for one of the two “road” games.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
Thinking tickets would be cheap, I drove down without a ticket (as usual). However, to my surprise most scalpers were asking for $100 per ticket even though there was a lot of supply on the streets.
Finally I decided to check the box office since tickets …

NBA Playoffs: Pacers at Bulls Game 2

I flew back to Chicago Sunday night in order to be back in time for the Chicago Cubs second home stand of the season which started Monday night. However, both the NBA and NHL Playoff schedules came out while I was in San Francisco, so I missed the Chicago Bulls opening round playoff game on Saturday afternoon.
So even though I just got back from a 10-day trip to San Francisco and the Cubs were home at Wrigley Field, I was planning to attend Game 2 of the Pacers and Bulls …

Nicole and I left Chicago at noon and arrived at our hotel by 4:30 pm (with some stops along the way). The hotel (which I was concerned about based on reviews online) was great! It was a 4-star hotel – the lobby and rooms were luxurious, but not “that” luxurious. With Nicole happy with the hotel, I was relieved and ready to attend the Indiana Pacers game for the third time this season. Since Nicole wanted to rest when she got to the hotel the Pacers …

After buying my ticket for the Colts playoff game, buying my ticket for the Pacers game was easy. On my walk looking for Colts tickets, I had already checked in with the Conseco Fieldhouse box office – cheapest ticket was $10. I was planning to buy a $10 ticket from the box office when I walked by a few scalpers. I offered them $5 for a ticket and the guy asked for $10. I looked at the ticket and the face value was $125. I paid the $10 immediately.
I realized …

All week I planned to attend the Indianapolis Colts AFC Divisional Playoff game versus the Baltimore Ravens. Since that game did not start until 8:15 ET I wondered if there was another game I could attend earlier in the day. There was. The Pacers game had been rescheduled to 6 pm because of the playoff game at Lucas Oil Stadium. However, I knew that NBA games normally last between 2 hours and 15 minutes and 2 hours and 30 minutes. Thus, I did not think …

After attending Monday Night Football some fans may take Tuesday night to relax and recover. I chose to recover at the Chicago Bulls game.
Obtaining TicketsI am not sure if I would have actually attended tonight’s game if I did not already have a ticket. However, I had bought $10 tickets to a few games before the start of the season. The reason I bought the tickets is that my general theory is that you should pay as little as possible to just get into the game. Then you can sit …

For the first time since May 30, 2004, I attended an Indiana Pacers game at the Conseco Fieldhouse. Hospitality Jim, who I attended the Chicago Blackhawks game with on Monday night, was in Indianapolis to see a kids concert with his wife and daughter. He wanted to attend his first NBA game so I decided to make the trip south on Friday. I left Chicago at 2 pm and arrived at 6:20 pm (one hour time change plus 20 minutes of traffic leaving Chicago).
