With the Ultimate Sports Baby going to bed earlier and cooler game time temperatures with fall setting in, Dylan probably will not make it to any more night games this season.
This was the last game of the Cubs nine-game home stand. Brett Myers dominated the Cubs and Houston finished the series defeating the Cubs 4-0.

Last night the Cubs unveiled the new Billy Williams statue which now sits where Harry Carey’s statue used to be – on the corner of Sheffield and Addison. Harry Carey’s statue was moved behind the bleachers on the corner of Sheffield and Waveland.
The Cubs lost to the Astros 7-3 as the only thing to root for during the game was whether Astros’ Michael Bourn would hit for the cycle – which he did not. He started the game with a triple, double and single but ended the game …

Meeting Tom Ricketts: Astros at Cubs

It’s not every game you see the owner of a professional team wandering around the upper deck handing out baseballs to each child he sees. But this is what occurred Monday afternoon as Tom Ricketts was spotted down the left field line in the upper deck of Wrigley Field.
I noticed he was giving out baseballs to kids in the upper deck so I asked him if the baseball had to make a memory for someone or if the Ultimate Sports Baby could have one. He gave the Ultimate Sports Baby …

Last season, I scheduled a few doctor’s appointments to coincide when the Cubs or White Sox were playing on a weekday afternoon. Today was no different as I had a scheduled dental procedure that would keep me home all day. The good thing was that my dental appointment was early in the morning – meaning I could come home, take a nap to recover and still make it to the Cubs game which started at 1:20 pm.
However, of course, since I was in so much pain the game lasted 12 …

After losing 11-5 on Monday night to the Astros, the Cubs put on their own offensive display tonight defeating the Astros 14-7 (after the Astros had a 7-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th).
Aramis Ramirez hit three home runs in tonight’s Cubs game for the fourth time in his career. This was also the third time this season I have witnessed a player hit three home runs in one game. The other two were Albert Pujols on May 30 and Drew Stubbs on July 4. …

There are a lot of things I take for granted at Wrigley Field now that I have attended 435 Cubs games, two minor league games and the NHL Winter Classic at the ballpark. One thing I never think of is the ballhawks that sit along Waveland Ave. I pass these guys every game, but have never talked to or inquired about their desire to sit outside Wrigley Field which is equal to my desire to sit inside the ballpark. In fact, I have never once wandered outside to try to …

Full Shilling vs. Yak-Zies before Cubs games

For the second time in three days, I was planning to attend both the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks game in the same day. However, after seeing the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals play 20 innings on Saturday night, I was slightly concerned that a long extra innings game would keep me from attending the Chicago Blackhawks playoff game. I have a strict rule that I cannot leave one sporting event early to attend another sporting event. In the end, I was not that concerned as the Cubs …

Sun vs. Shade at Wrigley Field: Astros at Cubs

For the second day in a row, the Cubs tried to stage an eighth inning comeback. However, today they came up short losing to the Astros 4-3. Roy Oswalt shut down the Cubs, pitching shutout baseball over seven innings.
Sun vs. Shade
The game time temperature was 50 degrees, which is actually a good temperature for April baseball in Chicago. However, at Wrigley Field whether you are sitting in the sun or the shade can make a world of difference. If you are sitting in the shade be sure to bring layers …

One of the best parts of the Cubs playing afternoon games is that your nights are free. While most MLB teams play at night, the Cubs are required to play mostly during the day which is usually a blessing. For example, today the Cubs played their usual Friday afternoon home game (the only team in baseball to play on Friday afternoons). Their early game time allowed Chicago sports fans the option of also attending the Chicago Blackhawks opening playoff game at the United Center tonight. Of course, my plan was …
