Smirnoff Bar at United Center: Pacers at Bulls Game 5

As was the case last week, I planned to skip Tuesday night’s Cubs game in order to attend the Chicago Bulls playoff game versus the Indiana Pacers.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
On Sunday night, at the Blackhawks playoff game, I bought a SRO ticket for $40 from the box office. I figured it would be difficult to beat the $40 price point buying a regular seat, so having a ticket would save me time looking for tickets before the game.

Also, as it turns out my friend Kelly McMahon was attending the …

NBA Playoffs: Bulls at Pacers Game 3

With the Bulls playing in “nearby” Indianapolis, I decided to make the drive for Game 3. I chose Game 3 over Game 4 since the Cubs are home Saturday afternoon and I would only drive down for one of the two “road” games.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
Thinking tickets would be cheap, I drove down without a ticket (as usual). However, to my surprise most scalpers were asking for $100 per ticket even though there was a lot of supply on the streets.
Finally I decided to check the box office since tickets …

NBA Playoffs: Pacers at Bulls Game 2

I flew back to Chicago Sunday night in order to be back in time for the Chicago Cubs second home stand of the season which started Monday night. However, both the NBA and NHL Playoff schedules came out while I was in San Francisco, so I missed the Chicago Bulls opening round playoff game on Saturday afternoon.
So even though I just got back from a 10-day trip to San Francisco and the Cubs were home at Wrigley Field, I was planning to attend Game 2 of the Pacers and Bulls …

I had planned to attend the Chicago Bulls game on Friday night. However, Nicole was unable to get back from campus in time so I planned to attend tonight’s game. I would not have attended both games anyway. However, I had no idea Chicago was celebrating the 20th anniversary of their first championship tonight, so I was definitely happy with the switch.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
Of course, the magnitude of the evening made ticket prices much higher than I thought. The game was sold out so I ended up paying $80 …

New Year’s Eve at the United Center

Ever few years the Chicago Bulls play an afternoon game on New Year’s Eve. Nicole wanted to bring her great uncle to the play “White Christmas” which started at the same time the Bulls game did – 2 pm. Since you cannot bring a baby to a play, this was my opportunity to bring the Ultimate Sports Baby to his first Chicago Bulls game.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
I dropped Nicole and her uncle off at the theater around 1:30 pm which gave me plenty of time buy a ticket, find parking …

I picked up my mom after the Northwestern football game – our babysitter for the evening. I planned to attend the Chicago Bulls game Saturday night before going out to dinner with Nicole. This game happened to be the 100th Chicago Bulls game I have attended.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
I had to pay for a $25 standing room only ticket from the box office since none of the scalpers would take $20 for a ticket and I was not going to pay more than $25. I knew I would be able …

It was LeBron James’ afternoon. After losing Game 3 on Thursday night to the Chicago Bulls, there was no way James would come out Sunday afternoon and lose on national television. And perform he did. Not only did he easily make a half court shot at the end of third quarter, he delivered his fifth career postseason triple-double and became the first NBA player to post 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while draining six three-pointers during the playoffs. Many signs around the United Center …

Over the last few years, smokers attending sporting events have gradually been banished from the arena in order to smoke. First, they were removed from their seats. Second, they could no longer smoke in concourses and had special smoking sections. Third, they were required to smoke outside of the stadium entirely. Not only is banning smokers better for all of the non-smokers in the stadium, but the outside smoking sections have definite advantages for all fans – smoker or not.
Case in point was last month when I attended the NCAA …

Chicago, Chicago Bulls, Ticket Buying Guide »

Buying tickets from Ticketmaster.com is insane – as most fans already know. So why do it? You should never do it. In my ticket buying guide, I write that fans should never buy tickets through Ticketmaster unless absolutely necessary. First, Ticketmaster adds so many fees to their tickets they are essentially scalping tickets. Second, the odds you will pay higher than what Ticketmaster ends up charging is very rare.
This morning Chicago Bulls playoff tickets went on sale at 10 am since they clinched a playoff …

Second NBA Team Clinches the Playoffs at the United Center

April is one of the best times of the year to attend sporting events. You can attend a different sport every day. Consider my last four days. On Saturday, I attended the Final Four. On Sunday, I went to the Chicago Blackhawks game. Monday, I was at U.S. Cellular Field for MLB Opening Day. And tonight, I went to the Chicago Bulls game – four different leagues in as many days.
Tonight was the last game of the $10 tickets I bought at the beginning …
