Thursday Night Baseball: Giants at Cubs

23 September 2010 No Comment

In a rare Thursday night game at Wrigley Field the Giants slammed the Cubs 13-0 which was the 17th consecutive game the Giants have allowed three or fewer runs. The last team to achieve that feat was the 1917 Chicago White Sox who ended up with 20 consecutive games.

Juan Uribe hit two home runs in the second inning – a grand slam and a two-run home run. I am not sure how many times I have seen a player hit two home runs in the same inning but it sure is not many and this could have been the first time.

The nicest part about the night was that the game started at 6:05 pm – meaning I could attend the game and still eat dinner with the wife around 9 pm – rather than skipping dinner or eating around 10 pm.

Promotional Giveaway
The Cubs handed out a gas card from BP as you entered Wrigley Field. The card was worth $5 but if the Cubs won it was worth $10. An interesting premise to get the fans more engaged I guess.
