Evanston, Northwestern Women's Basketball, Toledo, Women's College Basketball »

It was a perfect day to attend a Northwestern women’s basketball game with a slow day at work and a Wednesday afternoon tip-off at 3 pm. The irony with women’s basketball games is that you always need to buy a ticket from the box office. There is no secondary market. Adult tickets for women’s basketball cost $7 each at Northwestern.
Toledo at Northwestern
Northwestern held a good lead throughout the game and defeated Toledo 70-60. Toledo got within nine points with 5:36 left in the game but they never really had a …

College Basketball at United Center: Illinois at UIC

As is the case with most Saturday mornings, Nicole was teaching skating. Thus, I found a sporting event to attend with the Ultimate Sports Baby. This time it was UIC Men’s Basketball hosting Illinois at the United Center. Based on my experience from the Blackhawks game last Wednesday night I figured it would not be too painful to bring Dylan into the United Center again. Plus, college basketball only lasts for two hours so the game should be quick.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
I figured tickets would be cheap. On my walk …

Alabama St. at Loyola Men’s Basketball

With the wife out of town the Ultimate Sports Baby and I decided to take in the only game in town – Loyola Men’s Basketball vs. Alabama St. Two seasons ago, I took in a men’s and women’s game at Loyola University – my first visits to the Gentile Center at the time.
I had to pay to park since I was with the Ultimate Sports Baby, but paying for parking is better than taking the train. It only cost $7 to park in the parking structure closest to the arena. …

Brunch at the Chicago Marathon

In the past we have not done the Chicago Marathon correctly. We wake up, grab some coffee, and head out to the corner of Broadway St. and Addison St. to watch the lead runners’ whiz by and continue south. Then, we walk back home.
Today we remedied that situation. As usual, I headed out to the corner of Broadway and Addison to see the “elite” runners. But, rather than go straight home, the Ultimate Sports Wife met me with the Ultimate Sports Baby and we walked south down Broadway St. to …

Today is a great doubleheader day. First, the Chicago Cubs are home at Wrigley Field in a 12:05 pm start.
Next, you have options. Obviously, your best bet is to attend the Chicago Blackhawks Round 2 playoff game at the United Center at 7:00 pm.
If ticket prices are too high for the Blackhawks game (or you just don’t like hockey), then consider attending the Chicago Fire game at Toyota Park (7:30 pm) or watch the Windy City Rollers at the UIC Pavilion (6:00 pm).

My plans for today include attending the Chicago Cubs game versus the Arizona Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field. First pitch is at 1:20 pm.
As soon as the Cubs game ends, I am driving to Milwaukee for Game 6 of the Bucks playoff series versus the Atlanta Hawks. However, if the Cubs game runs long, I will not be able to complete the 90 minute drive from Wrigley Field to the Bradley Center in time. Plus, Chicago traffic could be a nightmare keeping me from driving to …

Today is opening day at Arlington Park – Chicagoland’s premiere horse racing venue. Hawthorne Racecourse (Chicago’s other horse racing venue) completed their spring session this past Sunday to make way for the summer session at Arlington Park.
However, instead of driving to Arlington Heights, my plan is to attend the Chicago Cubs game. First pitch is at 1:20 pm.
For the third day in a row, the Kane County Cougars are playing at the same time as the Cubs. But if you are out in the western …

Looking to attend three baseball games for the price of one tonight? Then get yourself to Miller Park this afternoon. The Milwaukee Brewers are playing at 12:10 pm.
After the Brewers game, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee hosts Northwestern University in a doubleheader also taking place at Miller Park. The college doubleheader is included in the price of your Brewers ticket. The first college game is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm followed the second game at 7:00 pm. Of course, today is the day …

There are three professional baseball options to choose from in Chicagoland this evening. Tickets should be cheap outside of the stadiums for both MLB games while you will have to buy tickets from the box office for the Kane County Cougars game.
1) Chicago Cubs host the Washington Nationals at 7:05 pm.
2) Milwaukee Brewers host the Pittsburgh Pirates at 7:10 pm.
3) Kane County Cougars host the Quad City River Bandits at 6:00 pm.
