NHL Playoffs on Easter Sunday: Canucks at Blackhawks Game 6

This will be the only time I am ever able to attend two sporting events on Easter Sunday – the benefits of Nicole working on her dissertation all day. At least she had the heart to work on it at home so I could attend the Blackhawks playoff game.

Tickets were not that easy to come by since fans thought the Blackhawks could actually come back from a 3-0 deficit versus the Canucks. I ended up paying $95 for an $85 face value ticket. The guy said he …

Easter Sunday at Wrigley Field: Dodgers at Cubs

As I wrote three weeks ago, I love April doubleheaders including Wrigley Field and the United Center. It’s even better when it includes a playoff game.
Nicole was back working on her dissertation since it is due in about a week. So the Ultimate Sports Baby’s first Easter Sunday was spent at Wrigley Field. However, this time he had a play date as one of our friends were there with their 16 month old.

Father-Son Evening: Houston Dynamo at Chicago Fire

Dylan was driving me crazy at home after the Cubs game, so I put him in the car and drove to Toyota Park for the Chicago Fire game. I had every intention of putting Dylan to bed and hang out at home. Today was father-son day. Nicole was teaching skating in the morning and driving straight to Northwestern’s Sociology department so she could continue working on her dissertation. This meant the Ultimate Sports Baby and I had the day to ourselves.
Of course, Dylan slept through the first three innings of the game (and there was no way I would wake a sleeping baby today) so we got to the Cubs game in the 4th inning. However, rather than sit in his stroller, he cried until I took him out and let him …

The Cubs game was delayed for 74 minutes before the first pitch which gave Ashvin Lad and I time to go to Irish Oak before the game. Irish Oak is the only Irish pub in Wrigleyville and during a cold, rainy day is the perfect bar.
Today’s game was miserable all the way around. The game time temperature was 41 degrees, the Dodgers scored 6 runs in the top of the 3rd on their way to an 8-0 lead, and the game did not end until nearly 6 pm. …
