Handicapped Seating (with a Baby) at U.S. Cellular Field

Dylan and I were once again home together on a Sunday with the Ultimate Sports Wife still working on her dissertation. So rather than sit at home all day, I put him in the car and drove to U.S. Cellular Field for the afternoon game.
Parking
We paid $23 to park in the parking lot which is much easier than putting him in the stroller and taking the train to the Southside.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
I ended up buying a lower level seat for $20. The seat was in section 122, row 14.

It was a night off for everyone. Nicole was on campus continuing to work on her dissertation, so we had Nicole’s cousin over to watch Dylan on Friday night. Thus, with the wife busy and the baby watched, I could do whatever I wanted. Since I am pretty one dimensional in my leisure time, I was off to the Chicago White Sox game.
Beg, Borrow and Deal
I took the train to U.S. Cellular Field and bought a $42 face value ticket for $10. It was more difficult than usual to buy …

It was one of those days where nothing went as planned. First, the babysitter called me to cancel. That was fine since I could just bring the Ultimate Sports Baby to the Cubs game with me. Next, the Cubs postponed their game versus the Rockies after a 54 minute rain delay (game was finally postponed at 2:15 pm). Ugh! Not only could I not go to the Cubs game, I had to take care of Dylan for the entire day with no sporting event to …

Once again I received free tickets to Monday night’s game since Cubs tickets are worthless thus far this season. If you have been hesitating to attend a Cubs game because you think it will be too costly, you will most likely get in for $5 or less. Less meaning, most likely somebody will just give you a ticket as you wander around Wrigley Field.
Colorado Rockies at Chicago Cubs
Weather was bad again at Wrigley Field as the game time temperature was 43 degrees and it only got colder from there. Starlin …

Easter Sunday at Wrigley Field: Dodgers at Cubs

As I wrote three weeks ago, I love April doubleheaders including Wrigley Field and the United Center. It’s even better when it includes a playoff game.
Nicole was back working on her dissertation since it is due in about a week. So the Ultimate Sports Baby’s first Easter Sunday was spent at Wrigley Field. However, this time he had a play date as one of our friends were there with their 16 month old.

Today was father-son day. Nicole was teaching skating in the morning and driving straight to Northwestern’s Sociology department so she could continue working on her dissertation. This meant the Ultimate Sports Baby and I had the day to ourselves.
Of course, Dylan slept through the first three innings of the game (and there was no way I would wake a sleeping baby today) so we got to the Cubs game in the 4th inning. However, rather than sit in his stroller, he cried until I took him out and let him …

The Cubs game was delayed for 74 minutes before the first pitch which gave Ashvin Lad and I time to go to Irish Oak before the game. Irish Oak is the only Irish pub in Wrigleyville and during a cold, rainy day is the perfect bar.
Today’s game was miserable all the way around. The game time temperature was 41 degrees, the Dodgers scored 6 runs in the top of the 3rd on their way to an 8-0 lead, and the game did not end until nearly 6 pm. …

Ultimate Sports Baby Walks at Wrigley Field

Since I had tickets for the second game, but would not receive a refund, I walked home in order to get re-organized and change the Ultimate Sports Baby. Plus, by re-entering Wrigley Field, I could finally receive a promotion – the Tyler Colvin bobblehead. This was probably the main reason the Cubs kept the games as a separate ticket so fans from Tuesday night could get their prize. But, people need to stop being so lame about collecting promotional items.  It is mostly junk you will probably throw out at …

The Cubs Screw Fans with Day-Night Doubleheader

Rain caused Tuesday night’s Cubs game to be rescheduled to Wednesday night setting up a day-night doubleheader. This was one of the first times I had not planned to attend a Cubs game, but was able to after the game was postponed. I brought the Ultimate Sports Baby to the first game of the day in what turned out to be a scheduling nightmare for the Cubs.
First, even thought the Cubs scheduled the night game for 6:05 pm they never rescheduled the first game as they should have. …

Family Reunion in Oakland: Tigers at Athletics

It was the Ultimate Sports Baby and my last day in the Bay Area. Our flight back to Chicago left from Oakland at 6:10 pm. Thus, I planned to attend the Oakland Athletics afternoon game before flying back to Chicago Sunday evening. My parents, brother, his girlfriend and her three kids were all attending the game. We had to buy tickets from the box office since we needed eight tickets. First, we needed room to spread out and second, scalpers usually do not have eight together for a cheap price. …
