Women’s Professional Soccer is coming Spring of 2009. The Chicago Women’s Professional Soccer francise was unveiled as the Chicago Red Stars. The Chicago Red Stars honors the four six-pointed red stars on the City of Chicago’s Flag.
Fans had the opportunity to vote and select the team’s name from ten nomintated entries. Thank God the”Red Stars” was the winning name; the runner-ups were the less than ideal. For instance, can you imagine cheering for the Chicago “Stinking Onions”? What would their mascot be? I don’t want to think about it.
Season tickets go on sale today and home games will be played at Toyota Park.
