Cheering with the Enemy

8 July 2008 One Comment

Cheering for the Giants at a recent Giants-Dodgers game was painful. It was also boring.

Fans at AT&T must be so enamored by their baseball park that they forgot about the team that plays there. Where is the love for their Giants? There were no inappropriate heckles…no fighting in the stands…no trash taking in the streets- all the attributes of a fierce sports rivalry.

By Sunday, I had enough of “keeping the peace” with my in-laws and decided to show my true West Coast colors. I did what any respecting fan would do. (Well, one who was hungering for heckles and drama in the stands). I changed hats…literally. I even donned the persona of a Dodger fan. Trust me. I was much happier. I even brought an accomplice in my friend Armando.

Perhaps some of you may think it is deplorable to express such blatant fairweather tendencies. But, I think it is deplorable that the Giant fans have flat lined since Barry retired.

San Fran, that ballpark is too beautiful to waste on apathy. Let’s get with the program. If you can’t hate the Dodgers, who can ya hate?
