Allstate Arena Avoids Friday Night Traffic

4 February 2011 No Comment

I have written about this before and I will write about it again. Getting home from the northwest suburbs to my house by Wrigley Field on a Friday evening is nearly impossible to do in a reasonable amount of time. So whenever there is an event scheduled for the Allstate Arena on a Friday night, I plan to attend since I pass the arena on my way home from work.

Beg, Borrow and Deal
Tonight the Chicago Wolves were playing in a rare Friday night game. As usual I had to buy a ticket from the box office since no scalpers were around. I paid $11 for the cheapest ticket.

Abbotsford Heat at Chicago Wolves
The Heat and Wolves played to a shootout after being tied 3-3 through overtime. What I did not realize was that the AHL has five shooters apiece during a shootout as opposed to the NHL’s three – similar to international shootouts. Of course, this rule difference caused the Wolves to lose the game tonight as they were ahead 1-0 after three shooters but ended up losing the shootout 2-1 after all five shooters.
