Family Reunion in Oakland: Tigers at Athletics

It was the Ultimate Sports Baby and my last day in the Bay Area. Our flight back to Chicago left from Oakland at 6:10 pm. Thus, I planned to attend the Oakland Athletics afternoon game before flying back to Chicago Sunday evening. My parents, brother, his girlfriend and her three kids were all attending the game. We had to buy tickets from the box office since we needed eight tickets. First, we needed room to spread out and second, scalpers usually do not have eight together for a cheap price. …

Reverend Jesse Jackson at U.S. Cellular Field

It’s not every game that you run into someone famous walking the concourse of a ballpark. Last night as I was walking from home plate to right field along the 100-level concourse of U.S. Cellular Field, I noticed the Reverend Jesse Jackson walking towards me. Cedric the Entertainer: Athletics at Cubs

It was a beautiful night for a baseball game at Wrigley Field after a rain filled and poor Cubs performance the previous night. The Cubs defeated the Oakland Athletics 6-2 as Cedric the Entertainer sang the seventh inning stretch.

The highlight of the night was Alfonso Soriano sacrifice bunting for the first time as a Chicago Cubs player and the first time in four years.

First Rain Delay of the Season: Athletics at Cubs

I normally judge how much rain Chicago gets based on the number of rain delays and postponements during the season. Last year I “went” to four postponed games and two games that were rain-shortened (which doubled my rain-shortened game attendance). That was the most postponed games I have “attended” in any season.
Tonight, the Cubs game versus the Oakland Athletics was delayed by rain for 101 minutes. And, while I do not keep track of rain delayed games, this was my first delayed game this season. The game did not start …

After relaxing with my parents and grandparents for a few days it was time for some weekday afternoon baseball. The Ultimate Sports Wife and I headed to Oakland to see the Athletics take on the Texas Rangers.
Parking at the Oakland ColiseumWe chose to pay the $17 to park in the official Oakland Coliseum parking lots. However, if you are trying to save a few dollars you can park across the freeway for free. Get off at the 66th Avenue exit and instead of heading towards …
