Right Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.718/205.79, Now #13
                                  No Prior Run
11:57 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 17 percent, barometer 28.98 inches, adjusted altitude 2,481 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

I won't try to detail the new qualifying rules, but #13 through #22 have had their ET's reset and all be trying to bump into the now sixteen car field.

Anderson may have been slow on his second attempt yesterday, but today's a different story. He crushes the prior numbers with a new track ET and MPH record! Grey will slot into the current #13 spot for now.

Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 14.096/61.24, Now #11
Best prior run: 6.695/206.48, Was #11
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.644/208.23, Now #2
Best prior run: 6.651/207.98, Was #3
Hartford's car is dead sideways at 60 feet. He has to give it up right away. Coughlin's numbers are as good as Anderson down low and he runs well enough to move up to the new #2 position.
Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.800/205.22, Now #15
                                  No Prior Run
Right Lane: Bill Glidden Runs 6.700/206.92, Now #12
                                  No Prior Run
Glidden gets a clean pass and will slide into #12 for now. Lots of shake for Morgan and he'll have to settle for #15. That won't last long...
Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.765/206.51, Now #16
                                  No Prior Run

                                  No Prior Run
Nothing to write home about, but we now have our first Official sixteen car field of 2008! Edwards' car has shake down low, but runs well on the other end.
Left Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 6.770/204.82, Now #18
                                  No Prior Run

                                  No Prior Run
Watson makes a clean pass into the current field. Rivera isn't quick enough. Jim Yates is on the bump spot at 6.755.
Left Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 7.083/195.65, Now #13
Best prior run: 6.704/206.32, Was #13

                                  No Prior Run
Krisher is usually a top half of the field car by now. Not this time either. The car is lazy off the line and he lifts.Koretsky clicks it early too.
Left Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 12.667/69.44, Now #21
                                  No Prior Run

Lots of shake and tail wagging for both cars at the hit. Ugly!
Left Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.737/204.70, Now #15
                                  No Prior Run

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.671/208.36, Now #5

WJ lost his top MPH to Anderson in the first pair of the session. Nice 1.000 sixty foot time for the conditions and he pick up 0.001 to stay in #4 for now. No joy for Gaines, as he can't match his prior best.
Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.661/207.50, Now #7

Neither car was able to make a full pass in session three. Both cars make nice improvements and are in the field for now. No bets on how long they will stay in...

Left Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.745/204.60, Now #20
Best prior run: 6.755/204.76, Was #19

Tom Hammonds is on the bump spot at 6.721. Close, but not good enough! Clean passes, but the weather is not as good as Thursday or Friday and making power is tough.
Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.748/203.83, Now #19
Best prior run: 6.737/204.11, Was #19

Nice pass for Edwards and it pushes Gray on to the bump spot.
Left Lane: Bill Glidden Runs 6.694/206.83, Now #11
Best prior run: 6.700/206.92, Was #12
Right Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.841/203.37, Now #19
Best prior run: 6.737/204.70, Was #19
Deceglie is the last car that can bump into the field and is short a bunch. Glidden finds a little more power and moves up a spot on the ladder with a career best ET. Johnny Gray will stay on the bump spot at 6.718 and will qualify for his first time in ProStock after success in a lot of other Pro and Sportsman classes. Good for him!
Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.652/207.88, Now #4
Best prior run: 6.674/208.30, Was #9

Best prior run: 6.704/206.32, Was #13

Nice 0.991 sixty foot for Naylor, but no improvement. Hartford slows from earlier.
Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 13.569/64.59, Now #7
Best prior run: 6.660/207.94, Was #7
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.704/206.61, Now #10
Best prior run: 6.684/206.39, Was #10
Big move towards the center line off the line for Humphreys and he has to lift. Gaines picks up a little speed, but no ET with a 1.013 sixty foot time.
Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.652/208.59, Now #4
Best prior run: 6.655/208.49, Was #5

Best prior run: 6.661/207.50, Was #8
Johnson ties Allan Johnson's ET, but his better speed gives him the #5 spot for now. Stanfield is a little faster and will stay #8.
Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.668/207.91, Now #3
Best prior run: 6.644/208.23, Was #3

Best prior run: 6.656/208.81, Was #6
No improvement for either driver. KJ's car was real snaky off the line and it costs him.
Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.658/207.27, Now #2
Best prior run: 6.644/208.23, Was #2

Best prior run: 6.629/209.39, Was #1
Jeggie is away first and has better times down low and through the 1000 foot lights, but Anderson has the better top end power and runs 0.001 better by the quarter mile with a 1.6 MPH advantage.

3:25 p.m. Johnny Gray is on the bump spot at 6.718.

Naylor get's too quick and misses the tree by -0.006. Stanfield has a lot of power for the conditions and makes a strong pass into round two.

 (W) Justin Humphreys (RaceRedi Motorsports GTO) 0.020 6.657 207.56
 (L) V. Gaines (Kendall Oil Stratus) 0.035 6.701 206.80
Humphreys gets off the line first and makes his best run of the weekend to defeat a strong Gaines. Two clean and straight passes.
 (W) Jason Line (Summit Racing Equipment GTO) 0.001 6.671 208.20
 (L) Bill Glidden (GTO) 0.045 6.792 206.16
WOW! Looks like Line has been using his practice tree over the winter! An amazing 0.001 light and Summit Racing power end the contest quickly. Glidden has a fair light, but slowed from his prior best.
 (W) Allen Johnson (J & J Racing Stratus) 0.021 6.645 207.85
 (L) Matt Hartford (Nickens Brothers Racing Stra 0.056 6.712 206.01
AJ gets a big advantage off the line and uses the family's strong Dodge power to drive steadily away from Hartford.
 (W) Warren Johnson (GM Performance Parts GTO) 0.110 6.661 208.46
 (L) Kenny Koretsky (Nitrofish/Indicom Cobalt) 0.063 6.873 205.01
Johnson will need to work on his RT, but The Professor's big power catches Koretsky's Nitrofish Cobalt before the 330 lights.

We will have the two JOhnson families meeting in round two with AJ keeping lane choice.

 (W) Kurt Johnson (AC Delco Cobalt) 0.050 6.648 208.30
 (L) Mike Edwards (Young Life/Penhall GTO) 0.058 6.707 206.32
KJ has all of the numbers and runs close to his qualifying time to decisively defeat Edwards.

He will have lane choice over Line in the next round.

 (W) Greg Anderson (Summit Racing Equipment GXP) 0.030 6.627 208.94
 (L) Johnny Gray (Stratus) 0.040 6.910 195.22
It's all Anderson, all of the time. He gets a hundredth off the line and then resets the ET mark for the race in defeating a slowing Gray. No shame in getting beat in your first race, when you have to run against the Pontiac.

He meet Stanfield in the next round with lane choice again.

 (W) Jeg Coughlin (Jegs.com Cobalt) 0.040 6.670 207.59

 (L) Allen Johnson (J & J Racing Stratus) 0.067 6.654 207.85
Advantage Anderson at the green and he stays in front all the way. AJ found some power from last round and made a race of it with a improved ET.

3:41 p.m. Anderson will meet the 2007 Champion in the finals with lane choice.
