There is one thing I will say about Cubs fans \u2013 they endure some pain to attend games at Wrigley Field and I am not talking about the performance on the field. If I did not live less than one block from the ballpark, there is no way I would attend as many games as I do \u2013 unless, of course, I lived near a subway stop. But I would never want to drive to Wrigley Field on a regular basis. Let\u2019s consider what suburban Cubs fans go through.<\/p>\n
1) They sit in traffic to arrive at the ballpark.
\n2) They pay extraordinary amounts of money to park around the field. Parking prices range from $25 to $40 depending on where you park. Even parking lots \u00bd mile away still charge $20.
\n3) They sit in traffic to leave the ballpark.<\/p>\n
Maybe that\u2019s why there are so many bars and restaurants around Wrigley Field. There needs to be something to do to avoid traffic.<\/p>\n
This was the case after the game Wednesday afternoon. I had a meeting in Buffalo Grove, IL at 5:30 pm and thought I would make the meeting if I left after the game. Big mistake! It took me an hour just to drive from my house to the highway along Irving Park Rd. It then took me another hour to sit in traffic on the highway to get to Buffalo Grove. Two hours after the game I was finally in the northwest suburbs \u2013 an unacceptable amount of time to spend traveling to and from (let alone one direction) to a sporting event.<\/p>\n
