I guess his weekend’s only season ticket plan comes with one weeknight game during the season – just another way for the White Sox to sell tickets to a crappy night game in April.

Before this invite, I was already planning to attend the Milwaukee Brewers afternoon game scheduled the same day. One of my favorite sporting events to attend is a weekday afternoon baseball game. With the Brewers game scheduled for 12:10 pm and the White Sox game not starting until 7:10 pm I figured I had plenty of time to attend both games.

I arrived at Miller Park with no issues. However, the traffic to get into the general parking lot was much more than I expected. It took me 15 minutes to exit from Miller Parkway and park in the general parking lot – much more time than I expected for a weekday afternoon game in Milwaukee. Parking only cost $8 so there is not much incentive to look for free street parking around the ballpark.

Beg, Borrow and Deal
My ticket plan for this game was to receive a free ticket from someone who had extra tickets. Usually I plan to pay for a ticket and end up with free one, but when I logged onto StubHub.com Tuesday night, tickets were under $1 (total cost would be $6 with StubHub’s $5 electronic delivery fee). The cheapest ticket at the Miller Park box office was $8.

I did not negotiate with any scalpers since they would never give anyone a free ticket. I walked around to the front of Miller Park and saw a group of girls with a Dad – a likely group to have extra tickets. They did and handed me one ticket.

Colorado Rockies at Milwaukee Brewers
When I got into the stadium, I realized why traffic was so bad getting into the parking lot. Surprisingly, there were a lot of fans in attendance – 35,793 to be exact.

The Rockies took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Brewers managed to creep back to take a 5-4 lead after the 6th inning. Trevor Hoffman shut down the Rockies in the 9th inning to earn his 593rd career save.

I had hoped the game would end around 3 pm which would give me plenty of time to get back to Chicago for the White Sox game. However, the game ended at 3:30 pm which multiplied the amount of time it took to drive home.

Two weeks ago when I attended the NCAA Tournament with two guys I met at an Indiana Pacers game in January, one of the guys invited me to the Chicago White Sox game on Wednesday, April 7.
