{"id":1902,"date":"2009-10-11T16:52:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-11T22:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anygame-anywhere.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/11\/chicago-marathon-2\/"},"modified":"2009-10-11T16:52:00","modified_gmt":"2009-10-11T22:52:00","slug":"chicago-marathon-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anygame-anywhere.com\/blog\/chicago-marathon-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Chicago Marathon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year\u2019s Chicago Marathon was much cooler than the last two with a start time temperature of 33 degrees \u2013 a far contrast from last year\u2019s starting temperature of 64 degrees, which eventually warmed up to the mid 80s and 2007\u2019s high temperatures in the 90s eventually causing race officials to close the course.<\/p>\n<p><u>The Marathon<\/u><br \/>As was the case last year, I was mainly interested in seeing the men\u2019s and women\u2019s elite fields.  The race started earlier than last year at 7:30 am.  Once the race began, the Ultimate Sports Wife and I walked over to the 7.5 mile mark on Addison St. in between Lake Shore Dr. and Broadway St. since it was too cold to wait for them very long.  The men ran by at the 35 minute mark while the women showed up at 43 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The main story line of the day was whether the 2008 Olympic gold medalist Sammy Wanjiru could set a world record with such cold temperatures.  Wanjiru did not set the world record but did set a course record by one second \u2013 running the 26.2 mile course in 2:05:41.
