UIC Pavilion 525 S. Racine Ave., Chicago, IL

Stadium Review
History
The UIC Pavilion opened in 1982 and seats 6,958. Its main tenants are the UIC Flames Men’s and Women’s basketball teams. In addition to these teams, the Windy City Rollers began hosting their events at the arena for the 2009 season.

The UIC Pavilion has played host to other professional teams. Most notable were the Chicago Sky (WNBA) who played at the arena for the 2006-2009 seasons but are moving to Allstate Arena for the 2010 season. Lower level leagues such as the Chicago Storm (MISL 2004-2006) and the Chicago Rockers (CBA 1994-1996) also played at the UIC Pavilion.

The arena also hosted the AIBA 2007 World Boxing Championships.

Parking
UIC Pavilion has their own parking lots where I would recommend parking especially during the winter ($13 for WNBA or Windy City Rollers and $5 for UIC Flames basketball).

The only free parking in the area is located on S. Lytle St. (on the corner of W. Cabrini St. and S. Lytle St.) but the walk is a few blocks and probably not worth the effort.

Public Transportation
CTA buses (#7) stop on Harrison Street, west of Racine. If taking the CTA train, take the Blue Line to the Racine stop. Walk about 3 minutes (0.1 miles) to the arena.

Location of Ticket Scalpers
There are usually no scalpers working UIC Pavilion events. I normally wait outside the arena for 15-20 minutes before either receiving a free ticket from a fan who has an extra or buying tickets from the box office.
