In the past I have written about how I have never attended a four-game sweep. Well today the Padres achieved the feat for me defeating the Cubs 5-3. I will have to admit that I was cheering for the Padres. This was the Padres first four game sweep of the Cubs in their 42-year franchise history.

Today I actually needed more than my usual two tickets as a couple of my friends wanted to come to the game. In fact, I needed six total tickets. Since tickets are …

My decision to attend last night’s Cubs game is looking better and better especially after today’s 5-1 loss to the Padres. The Padres have won the first three games of the four game series and after tomorrow I will hopefully have attended my first four game series sweep.
As for today, Wrigley Field was once again sparsely populated as six rookie Cubs pitchers took to the mound. I understand why the Cubs priced their tickets the way they did today – a summer afternoon game in August. But …

As is normally the case, I made sure I bought Nicole a flight that landed in Chicago after the Cubs game. This way I could attend the game and still pick up Nicole. However, I debated on whether to attend this game tonight since I was already in the suburbs before the game and had to drive to O’Hare airport after the game. But then I thought this could be the first four game sweep I ever witness. I have attended two other four game series this year at Wrigley …

It was my first night alone with the Ultimate Sports Baby as Nicole stayed in Atlanta for an extra night. Obviously with Nicole out of town, we both went to the Cubs game Monday night.
San Diego Padres at Chicago Cubs
The Padres scored 9 runs in the last five innings of the game to defeat the Cubs 9-5. The poor play of the Cubs is finally catching up in the stands. The announced attendance was 36,814 but the stadium looked barely over half full with plenty of room in the bleachers. …

At the end of the day, the Cubs were swept by the Reds at Wrigley Field as they lost 11-4 today.
So today’s question is which seats are better – section 38 or 123? I went to the game with my cousin Andrew Holder. His mom and grandmother were with us so we needed to buy two more tickets for the game. We spent $35 for tickets that were $100.80 face value – one ticket was in Section 38 Row 6, the other Section 123 Row …

The Reds won their second game at Wrigley Field to move 15 games over .500. Drew Stubbs broke out of his 1-for-37 slump by going 3-for-4 hitting the go-ahead home run in the eighth inning which led the Reds to a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are now 3-9 versus the Reds this year.

The Cincinnati Reds moved to 14 games over .500 for the first time since 1990 with their 3-0 win over the Cubs today. The Reds have had nine straight losing seasons.
Post Game Dining
After the game, we went to Crepe Town – a crepe restaurant only a few blocks north on Sheffield Ave. (technically located at 3915 N. Sheridan Rd.). If you are looking for an unusual brunch place before an afternoon Cubs game then this is your place.

It was polar opposites from Monday night. Instead of losing big, the Cubs found their offense and defeated the Brewers 15-3 in an afternoon affair at Wrigley Field as LaTroy Hawkins and manager Ken Macha were both tossed out of the game.
One thing that has changed in baseball is the weather that the umpires and teams will let the players play through. Starting in the second inning it really started to rain in what would normally have lead to a rain delay a few years ago. But …

Under normal circumstances I would usually attend a corporate outing (free drinks and food) over a Chicago Cubs baseball game – especially when the corporate outing is in the suburbs. However, this season I am attempting a rare feat of attending at least 70 Chicago Cubs home games, so with the party starting at 5 pm, I knew I could attend the first hour and still make it in time for the game. Plus, who actually wants to hang out with their co-workers very long anyway.

In a terrible game for the Cubs all the way around, the Milwaukee Brewers crushed the Cubs 18-1 tonight at Wrigley Field. The Brewers had 26 hits which tied a Cubs franchise record for hits allowed which they also achieved on September 2, 1957 against the Milwaukee Braves.
Even the Wrigley Field scoreboard had to put up a white “26” for the number of Brewers hits. I guess the yellow numbers for hits only go up to “25.”
