GAME RECAP

Scottie Pippen scored 25 points as the Chicago Bulls remained perfect at home with a 110-87 whipping of the Golden State Warriors.

Toni Kukoc added 23 points for the Bulls, who improved to 27-0 at home this season and won their 34th consecutive game at the United Center.

Michael Jordan, who scored 17 points, left the game with seven minutes to play after bruising his left knee, tailbone and elbow after trying to corral a loose ball. He is expected to play against Boston on Saturday.

"I'm fine," said Jordan when asked about his injury. "It's good to get the win, but this is not the kind of basketball we always want to play. We need to come out and play better in the first half because we were getting killed on the boards."

Chicago also won its third consecutive game, its shortest winning streak of the season, as it improved to 51-6. The Bulls need to go 19-6 over their final 25 games, a .760 winning percentage, to record the N-B-A's first 70-win season.

"This was an up-and-down ball game," Chicago coach Phil Jackson. "We could not find our rhythm in the first half and it was nice to see Scottie Pippen get his legs back under his game. It is a good sign for Toni (Kukoc) that he has carried his aggressiveness over from game to game. The confidence level in his shot is up."

Latrell Sprewell scored 26 points and Kevin Willis added 12 for Golden State, which has lost three straight games and nine in a row against Chicago.

Chris Mullin pulled Golden State within 73-65 on a three-pointer with 45 seconds to play in the third quarter, but the Bulls broke the game open with a 10-2 run into the fourth quarter.

Pippen closed the quarter with a three-pointer and layup to give Chicago a 78-65 advantage. After Mullin made two free throws, Kukoc drained a three-pointer and Dennis Rodman converted a layup to give the Bulls an 83-67 lead with 10:48 to play.

Chicago shot 52 per cent (46-of-89) from the field and made 11-of-20 three-pointers. Kukoc was 9-of-15 from the floor and made 4-of-7 three-point shots. Rodman pulled down 17 rebounds.

The Bulls were outscored at the foul line, 22-7.

Donyell Marshall added 11 points for Golden State, which shot a woeful 33 per cent (29-of-87) from the floor and committed 21 turnovers.

"They just beat us," Golden State coach Rick Adelman said. "They just took everything out of us and took out everything we wanted to do. They especially took over in the third quarter. They are very good defensively and I think the best defensive team in the league. We also missed a ton of shots."

Forward Joe Smith was hounded into a 1-of-15 shooting performance from the field and the starting frontcourt of Smith, Jerome Kersey and Rony Seikaly made a combined 3-of-24.
